PortAventura Park in Salou – Spain

About one hour from the Spanish metropolis of Barcelona is the PortAventura Park, considered by many to be the best amusement park in Spain. I have also formed my own opinion during a visit on the spot and I think that he perfectly handles this “award”.

The fact that PortAventura World, made up of PortAventura Park, Ferrari Land and Caribe Aquatic Park, is the most visited leisure resort in Spain, attracting 3.5 million visitors a year, can not be denied.

Also for German tourists the amusement park is a popular destination. This is not surprising, because he is located on the Costa Dorada, where many Germans want to spend their holidays.

An amusement park for the whole family

Visitors can expect a successful combination of rides for families with small children and breathtaking attractions for adrenaline junkies.

Since the park was only opened in 1995, you will find only rides of the newer generation in it. As a result, the flair of a grown theme park with historic attractions is lost a bit. Given the many opportunities to indulge in the rush of speed, but that did not bother me.

There are very different theme worlds waiting for the visitors

A total of six completely differently designed areas are available in the PortAventura Park. Including a Mediterranean area, Mexico and Polynesia. As further highlights China and the Wild West. The sixth theme area is dedicated to Sesame Street and its inhabitants, and is extremely popular with children.

All areas are detailed. And of course, the attractions are thematically adapted. This also applies to the dining offers in the six theme worlds. This creates a selection that you rarely find in amusement parks.

The most exciting attractions in PortAventura Park

The theme park’s classic is the DragonKhan roller coaster, which at its opening in 1995 was the roller coaster with the most inversions in the world. It does not detract from the driving pleasure that she has lost this title meanwhile. I think 8 loops and a speed of 105 km / h speak for themselves.

For those who want to go high, the free-fall tower Hurakan Condor is just right for them. It goes 100 meters up and then in free fall, of course, down again. A must for all adrenalin addicts. The great view of the entire amusement park on the drive up, there is for all the brave.

Stampida is the name of the park’s large wooden roller coaster. She too is part of the attractions from the beginning. There are two different colored cars that race the track. Will you be sitting in the victorious wagon?

The most modern ride in PortAventura Park is definitely Furios Baco. This is a 850m long roller coaster, which has a particularly sophisticated start mechanism. The catapult takes just 3 seconds to reach an acceleration from 0 to 100.

Exciting adventures for the whole family

Because the park is located in a holiday region and is visited by many families with small and large children, of course you also hold rides with less speed. How about a leisurely train ride through the park? It gives you a good overview of the individual theme worlds and can also save a few meters if you drive only a few stations.

To make the transition from the theme world of China to the Mediterranean part of the park, one can take a very relaxed path. Waitan Port is a quiet boat trip for the whole family that commutes between the two worlds. The wild

West forms an intermediate station. Again, there is much to discover on the way.

In the Wild West, Grand Canyon Rapids invites to a ride through wild torrents. This is fun for all ages and at the same time a welcome cooling off under the Spanish sun.

A large selection of rides for the little ones

PortAventura Park has well-distributed attractions for the little ones. Carousels and bumper cars should not be missing. One of the small rides are modeled on those for the adults. After all, no age group should feel deprived.

Also in the many live shows programs are extra for children. The performers include the residents of Sesame Street or Tadeo Jones. Because they change in the course of the year, you should visit the website again and get informed before a visit. Especially on Halloween, several live performances will be offered.

The physical well-being of the PortAventura is taken care of

And with a huge selection. You have to think about whether you want to stay in one of the stylish restaurants and enjoy excellent food. Alternatively, you can pick up something at one of the food stalls and so give away no time in the amusement park.

No matter what you choose, you can look forward to dishes that are adapted to the theme. All you have to do now is decide if you prefer Mediterranean, Chinese or just like dining in the Wild West.

Priced, I found the various offers absolutely fair. Especially with the offered quality.

How much time should one plan for a visit?

PortAventura Park alone is worth at least a full day visit. Adjacent are but also the Ferrari Land and the water park. That’s why it’s not enough to plan just one day on the spot. This is an overnight stay nearby, maybe even for the entire holiday. A day out to Barcelona can round off the trip perfectly. Great deals on accommodation near PortAventura Park can be found here.
